I don't know how old the crowd is that is complaining about the Hi-Ho but I am one of the older crowders. Back in the mid 90's the Hi-Ho was about the same as everyone is describing it now. And guess what we all went out there and had a great time that was way before Desperados was in the picture. So just go where every you feel more comfortable and just have a good time

Supporting local bands and a new Tejano place is cool. It's true that HiHo its inexpensive, but I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a good service, nice dance floor, good sound and to be able to buy my beer there. We paid 25+ at New west before, I'm sure we would pay that much for a place we really like. Have a good one

Kcel---Tejano??? Que lastima. If you don't want to go to the Hi-Ho, that's your pereogative but why discourage the support for local tejano bands. Que triste you'd stoop to that level. A true tejano does not discredit the efforts of another tejano. We need to stick together.

Right now, the Hi Ho is the only centralized place in Arl./Grand Prairie that will try to get a Tejano Place started. If you know of any one that is interested in starting a Tejano Club in Arl./Grand Prairie area, have them contact me. Thanks for your comments, but all I'm trying to do is support a place that will give local bands a chance. Have you checked out the other local places like Sweetwater? Our only choice is to go to New West and fight the young crowd.

BEING HONEST, I HAVE TO AGREE ABOUT THE HI,HO. ALL ABOUT SUPPORTING TEJANO MUSIC ANY DAY. THIS IS THE DFW AREA. FULL OF TEJANO'S. TOGETHER WE'RE BIGGER THAN SAN ANTONIO. I'M SURE THERE ARE LOT'S OF BETTER VENUES TO LOOK INTO. ANOTHER REASON DESPERADO'S WAS VERY POPULAR WAS, HAVING GROUPS PLAY ON SAT. NIGHTS. A LOT OF PEOPLE CAN'T SHOW UP ON FRIDAYS. IF A CLEANER VENUE WOULD TRY THIS, I'M SURE IT WOULD HAVE A LOT MORE SUPPORT FROM OUR DFW TEJANOS.

I hate to be the one to put a damper on things but the HiHo.? Really.? I am only writing this negative review about the place because I think anyone that is going to try it with high expectations should know the truth. I was there to see Little Joe a few weeks ago so I can give an honest opinion. After postings of how the place had money put into it and how it had been greatly improved I went and was totally disappointed. The dance floor is in terrible condition, ply-wood and gaps in much of it. There is no sound system in the ballroom itself so if your in the back good luck hearing the band. Unless you're front row center of course.There was no alcohol, whoever said it was BYOB is lying. I was greatly dissappointed when I went and if the HiHo is all we can come up with then I again am disappointed. Just my honest opinion. I understand those who will say "We need to support our local bands here" but at what cost. Can we not find a real venue. If all of our hopes lie with what a place like this has to offer then we are in bigger trouble than I thought.!!!

I loved Desperado. New West is fine, but rather go somewhere else. Hi-Ho may be a place to try, but as they say "La primera impresion cuenta". The owners should bring a "Well Known" performer that can garantee our return and support.

First of all, I want to thank everyone that showed up at our basically first Coalition Meeting in the DFW area.
We had around 80 persons, and we are very happy for the turnout and interest that DFW showed but it is still going to take alot of work. we are very excited to get started with our new adventure!!!
It is not too late to join us . our next meeting will be October 20th. more details later!

Yes, I am from San Angelo. I moved to San Antonio First , then my sisters moved to Dallas and I followed. I have been here 8 years now. My father still live in San Angelo, so I try and visit when I can.

try Rocks Sports Bar on Jacksboro Hwy in Ft Worth Great Tejano music all night and great beer specials its BYOB. They have big screens and plasmas and pool tables and a good dance floor w/an A/C!!! They have plenty of tables and a great crowd that is mature and not too many thugs. I have been there a few times and we enjoy it. Check it out!

this Friday night 2010 has a band called Zinzero, they sound a lot like Ramon Ayala, next Friday, Big Circo and on October the 5th, they have Roberto Pulido y Los Classicos also in Oct. Ediie Gonzales, Elida and more.don't forget about the Tejano Happy Hour every Fri. night at JPepe's in Dallas before you hit any club though.see you there.

Veronica, Desperado will not re-open. But, hey, the Hi-Ho ballroom is coming at us with Tejano nights starting Sept. 28. It's located off of Jefferson in Grand Prairie down the street from "Cowboys".
